Churches Together in Cornwall is part of a bigger Christian family made up of many different churches, from all kinds of backgrounds, communities, and traditions. Each one is shaped by its own history, customs, and ways of doing things.
Here in Cornwall, Churches Together supports and encourages churches of all kinds to come together, to build relationships, and to work in partnership.
Churches from many traditions are involved, including Anglican, Catholic, Pentecostal, Charismatic, Orthodox, Lutheran, Free Churches, Quakers, and others. Each brings something valuable to the mix, helping us reflect the full picture of the Body of Christ.
Together, we aim to:
- Share our faith together, in words and actions, across Cornwall
- Create space for churches to talk, listen, and learn from one another
- Work alongside other Christian groups and organisations to make a bigger impact
If youโd like to find out more or get involved, please get in touch with Churches Together in Cornwall or sign up to our Weekly Newsletter.

Can we achieve climate justice without racial justice?
The World Council of Churches presented compelling evidence in Berlin this week: communities of colour face the heaviest burden of environmental harm.
The second edition of the Living Planet Monitor, focusing on central, northern, and western Africa, documents both environmental data and stories of hope from faith communities responding to crises.
“When racial justice and ecological justice are pursued together, they strengthen each other, creating pathways towards a more equitable and sustainable future for all,” says Dinesh Suna, WCC programme executive for Land, Water, and Food.
The data confirms what many already know: Black, Indigenous, and marginalized groups live closest to toxic waste sites, polluting industries, and contaminated water. From Flint’s water crisis to climate-driven displacement in island nations and the Global South, the pattern holds.

๐ The WCC Christmas message 2025, โHoly Family, Holy Faith,โ reflects on the desperate and unlikely circumstances in which the Holy Family began.
โNow as then, families today experience the risks and perils and vicissitudes of being human in our too cruel world,โ reads the message. โMillions of families around the world are assailed by poverty and persecution, displaced by climate and disasters, torn apart as refugees flee from conflict and violence.โ
Yet hope is born.
โAngels sing and shepherds kneel! Godโs incarnation in human form, Jesus embodies Godโs love and confirms our infinite value as children of God, elevating, illuminating, and enlarging our lives and the whole human family in a deeper kinship with God and each other,โ reads the message.
The Holy Family is the icon of our kinship with God, each other, and the human prospect. โThrough holy faith, we are invited into and united in Godโs holy family. We are not alone in our struggles, pain and suffering. We are connected and interconnected. We are family. And Immanuel, God is with us forever!โ

We offer you a moment to pause and enter more deeply into the Advent season.
The recording of the Advent Readings, held on the 4th December, is now available to view here: www.youtube.com/watch?v=icdy3LYI4gw
As well as the great selection of readings by Wild Goose Publications authors, it also features a reading of a couple of powerful Advent poems by Kathy Galloway, who sadly passed away in August. They’re read beautifully by Neil Paynter.
Our next Advent event is on Friday 12th December, Prayers and Poems of Want, with
Pรกdraig ร Tuama and the Wild Goose Resource Group. You can register for that here: iona.civiplus.net/ssp/prayers-and-poems-want
(If you don’t seem to get an e-mail after registering, do check your spam or junk email folder to see if it might be hiding there, otherwise send us a DM and we’ll see what we can do to get you sorted!)

Today is Safeguarding Sunday, when thousands of churches from all traditions join together to celebrate the protection of all those who are vulnerable.
A Prayer for Safeguarding Sunday ๐
Loving and gracious God,
on this Safeguarding Sunday we hold before you all who have been harmed through abuse.
You see every story and every wound, and your heart grieves with those who suffer.
Ten years on from the Past Cases Review, we give thanks for progress made,
yet we remember those still struggling to heal.
Bring comfort, courage, and hope to all survivors, and surround them with your peace.
We pray for all who work in safeguarding;
for wisdom, compassion, and strength in their calling.
Help your Church to be a place of safety and truth,
where every voice is heard and every person valued.
Through your healing Spirit, make us instruments of love and renewal,
reflecting the light of Christ in all we do.
Amen.

**Prayer of the Day**
Forgive us Lord when we are so quick to enjoy all you give, yet so slow to say, โThank You.โ
We praise you for the peace that comes from knowing that, in Jesus, we are forgiven, loved and free.
Help us to rest in your peace through all the ups and downs, doubts and fears, joys and sorrows of each day. Hold us secure in your loving arms.
Amen.

Pray with us today.
Come as a dove flying over still waters of hope, putting peace into the hearts of people who would wage war.
Come to the captives and the refugees. Comfort all people who wait for freedom and all people who wait for them to be free.
Come as the sound of silence to hear the cries of people whose lives are limited by gender-based violence and domination. Stir up the hearts of all who abuse their power and privilege.
Come as flames of justice to a world where children are hungry; a world ripped apart by untruths and greed.
Come as water cascading down a mountain washing away the inequities of wealth and poverty. Come change the story. Come Holy Spirit, come now.
Amen.
Penny McCulloch, worship leader, Balsall Common Methodist Church, West Midlands

A prayer offered to those affected by the incident between Peterborough and Huntingdon.
God of compassion and peace, we hold before you all who were caught up in the events on the LNER, London bound train last night.
For those who were injured, frightened, or traumatised bring your healing and comfort.
For the emergency services and railway staff who responded grant them strength and calm.
For the families waiting for news surround them with your love and reassurance.
And for all who travel today with anxiety or fear restore their sense of safety and trust.
May your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guard every heart and mind.
Through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

The Season of Creation came to a close yesterday on the Feast of St Francis.
Two years ago, his namesake Pope Francis published his apostolic exhortation Laudate Deum which calls for faster climate action from world leaders. This prayer was inspired by that work.
On Wednesday, Pope Leo XIV repeated the call and quoted his predecessor at the Raising Hope conference with faith leaders, scientists and other experts.

Hello, my name is Bishop Sarah Mullally.
I'm deeply honoured to have been called to serve as the 106th Archbishop of Canterbury.
I take up this calling with trust not in myself alone, but in God who guides us all. May we be bold in hope, generous in spirit, and steadfast in love, as we serve Christ and one another.

A prayer for start of the new Connexional Year.
O Christ of the morning,
You who sang the stars into being,
Sing again into our hearts today.
As a new year unfolds,
we walk into the next chapter of your story,
the next line of your song.
May the Spirit stir our memory,
reminding us who we are
your people, your melody,
each life a note in your unfolding hymn.
Guide us in courage,
hold us in love,
send us with hope.
In the name of the One who goes before us,
beside us, and sings within us
Christ our companion,
Amen.
Written by Matthew Forsyth, Vice-President of the Methodist Conference 2025โ26.

As we begin Creationtide, here is a prayer written by Faye Edwardes, Church Buildings Support Officer at Diocese of Truro.
Creator God,
You formed the heavens and the earth, the seas and all that dwell within them.
We give thanks for the beauty and wonder of your creation, for birdsong, for trees, for flowers, and for rivers that flow with life.
Forgive us, Lord, for the ways we have wounded the earth. Renew in us a spirit of selflessness and care. Help us to walk gently, choose wisely, and love boldly – all of your creatures and our fragile planet.
May we join hands in hope, that your creation will flourish and your glory be revealed in every living thing.
Amen.

I can still remember the day my A Level results arrived, and of course, it's something all of us approach with nervousness and trepidation. However you're feeling, or indeed however it's worked out, let me offer you this prayer. ๐ … See MoreSee Less

As we mark 80 years since the atomic bombing of Hiroshima (August 6th) and Nagasaki (August 9th) Sheila Norris, Partnership Coordinator for Asia and the Pacific, shares a reflection at methodist.org.uk/about/our-stories/80-years-after-the-hiroshima-and-nagasaki-atomic-bombs/
With the United Church of Christ in Japan, we pray for peace ๐
We, as children of God and children of peace, continue to pray for the coming of God’s kingdom.
We pray that the domination by force of strong governments and peoples over weak ones will come to an end.
We pray for the breaking of the chains of hatred between governments and peoples.
We pray that every weak and desperate individual be granted courage and the power to live.
And we pray for an end, throughout all the earth, of the nuclear threat.
Amen.
